De Kaart groen erfgoed is een nieuwe loot aan de stam van de Landschapsatlas die wordt weergegeven op de website Landschap in Nederland van de Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed. In deze volledig digitaal te raadplegen atlas komen allerlei thema’s aan bod, zoals Militair Landschap, Agrarisch Landschap, Stedenbouw in Nederland, die allemaal weer onderverdeeld zijn in subthema's.
Kaart groen erfgoed
De Kaart groen erfgoed is opgebouwd uit verschillende thematische kaartlagen, zoals rijksbeschermde buitenplaatsen met beschermde groenaanleg, nationale parken en eendenkooien. Bijzonder is de kaartlaag over landschappelijk groen erfgoed. Het gaat hierbij om oude bossen, houtwallen en heggen. Dit soort erfgoed is kwetsbaar en historische landschapselementen worden steeds zeldzamer. Naar schatting is er van het areaal aan historische landschapselementen (van voor 1850) minder dan 3% over. Door veranderingen in het landschap is de helft van de ongeveer 100 autochtone struik- en boomsoorten een zeldzaamheid geworden. Deze kaart brengt gebieden in beeld waar deze soorten nog wel te vinden zijn.
Eerste Nederlandse bosstatistiek
In de Kaart groen erfgoed is ook de eerste Nederlandse bosstatistiek opgenomen. Staatsbosbeheer heeft in de periode 1938-1942 het totale bosareaal van Nederland in kaart gebracht. Deze gedetailleerde inventarisatie is nu digitaal toegankelijk gemaakt. Op de kaart zijn o.a. de boomsoorten weergegeven die voorkwamen op de bospercelen zo'n 75 jaar geleden.
Het is even zoeken hoe de website werkt. Het is handig om eerst de thema's in het linker menu één voor één aan te klikken. Dan in- en uitzoomen. Zo raak je vanzelf thuis in de werkwijze. Onderaan de website wordt uitleg gegeven.
